DIPLOMA IN TEACHER EDUCATION (DTE)

Introduction

The Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE) is a three-year teacher preparation programme designed to equip aspiring primary school educators with the academic knowledge, practical teaching skills, professional attitudes, and values required in the teaching profession.

The programme seeks to:

  • Build a strong foundation in educational theory, teaching methods, and professional practice.
  • Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with learners, colleagues, parents, and communities.
  • Equip trainees with skills for understanding learners' growth, behaviour, abilities, and individual differences.
  • Promote creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and responsible decision-making among trainee teachers.
  • Prepare teachers to use educational resources and technology effectively in teaching and learning.
  • Encourage appreciation of diversity, inclusion, national values, and responsible citizenship.
  • Develop practical classroom competencies through micro-teaching, assessment activities, and teaching practicum.
